Simple to deploy services

Ubuntu brings ease-of-use and efficiency, with a typical deployment of a fully secured and configured deployment of standard services taking no more than 15 minutes. Today there are an array of vital services that can be deployed in this way for mail, web, DNS, file serving or database management. LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) are also available at set up.

This simplicity is because Ubuntu Server Edition takes a different approach to how it delivers packages. The basic configuration and integration work is done before installation so that the user needs only to select which option they want. Canonical Ltd, the commercial sponsor of the Ubuntu Server product, is committed to adding more and more packages from free and commercial providers that will be deployed and managed in the same easy way.

Two new installation profiles have been added:

• Tomcat Java Server for Tomcat 6 and Sun's Java OpenJDK 6
• Virtualization Host for KVM and Libvirt
